5th Grade Parents and Guardians,
My name is Kirsten Herth, and I am the band director here at Westfall. I am so
excited for your student to take the first step in their musical journey and join me in the
Westfall band program next year!
On Tuesday, May 16th, your student will have the opportunity to participate in an
instrument fitting from 4:00-7:00 PM in the Westfall High School Auditorium.
Each fitting should take about fifteen minutes, so please arrive at your convenience. There is
no need to stay for the full three hours. Band instrument fittings involve trying several
instruments (flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, trombone, and percussion) which
your student may choose to play in the 2023-2024 school year. Our fitting team will take
the time to find the instrument that best “fits” their individual strengths.
At the band fitting, you will also have the opportunity to meet Jason Ferrell, our
Educational Representative from Music & Arts. He visits Westfall on a weekly basis to
take care of our student’s needs, ranging from returning repaired instruments to
delivering boxes of reeds. He will also be happy to answer any questions you may have
about the Music & Arts Rapid Rental program.
